Open house at library Sunday

Next Sunday afternoon from two to five will be to get acquainted with the new Yorba Linda District Library. It isn't really a new library. It is an enlarged library.

The open house event will start off with a short program in the multi-purpose room at 2:00. This is in the lowest level, and is most easily reached by the Plumosa Street entrance, from the new parking lot—the one where the new rose garden has been planted.

After the program, tours of all facilities will be conducted and refreshments will be served by the Friends of the Library. Hostesses will be from the Yorba Linda Woman's Club, and the Service League members will be in charge of the guest book—the same one the Service League gave the library when the previous building was dedicated.

During the refreshment period Jill and Sherry Burnmaster will play the harp—the same harp that Reggie Gallienne played at the last library dedication.

The corner entrance on Lemon and Plumosa Drives still exists, but the main entrance is now the one on Olinda Street. Here is the receptionist's desk and lobby, with the handy Xerox machine. To the right (the old wing) is adult circulation, fiction and non-fiction young peoples' books and records, tapes and cassettes. Also visual aids and the microfilm reader and printer.

Turning to the left from the lobby is the new reference area and research study area, and at the south end of the librarian's office and the board room. A door from the board room leads to the technical processing and work areas.

Stairs in the lobby lead to the upper level, which is devoted to the children's library: basically pre-schoolers through sixth grades. There is a separate story hour room, where every Tuesday morning pre-schoolers will hear a story, ad in the afternoons the older children will be the audience.

Down in the multi-purpose room there are kitchen facilities for light refreshments, ad the whole floor is available at no expense to any Yorba Linda organization that wants to hold meetings there.
