The first “Nixon for President” club in the nation was formed this week in Yorba Linda, it was announced by Mrs. Hoyt (Mildred) Corbit, president of the newly formed club.

“We are so proud that man of Dick Nixon's stature was born in this little village, and we feel he has done such an outstanding job as Vice-President that the formation of this club is our way of urging him to become a candidate for President,” said Mrs. Corbit.

Organized by the same committee of Nixon booster citizens who on Nixon's birthday, Jan. 9 of this year, dedicated a stone plaque which was erected on the lawn of the old home place, the membership is rapidly expanding and is expected to include most of the town's residents.

In ceremonies at the site this week the club officially got under way with the purchase of the first $1.00 membership by W. H. Barton, honorary mayor of Yorba Linda from Mrs. Corbit. Husband Hoyt immediate past honorary mayor and longest term resident in the Yorba Linda tract, bought ticked number two.

Barton was named first vice president; Evan Herbert, second vice president; and ernest Danke was named secretary-treasurer.

“We are proud to be the first booster club for Dick Nixon for President,” said Mayor Barton, “and we are particularly happy that we are getting such excellent cooperation and support from people of both major parties. The club is not partisan and member ship is open to anyone interested in seeing Dick Nixon as the next President of the United States.
